She Chose Down

She got home from dreams
With an old book in her hand
And a tale in her heart
No one could understand

So she wished for the worst
But how could’ve she known
Her wish would come true
The tale was her own

And when he came and offered her the world
She wanted to take it all back, every word

But it was already too late
The story had already begun
Into the labyrinth she rushed
To take back the little one

And since he loved her so much
The owl, the king of time
He’d make it all for her
To match what’s in her mind

But all the things he did, she never realized
Be a slave to be a queen, she thought it wasn’t right

So she chose down
And down she went falling
And she chose down
Not a thousand hands would stop the fall

‘You wanted me to be cruel, I was
You wanted me to be fearsome, I was
I did it all for you
It was all for you’
He’d say as the world dissolved around them
And as they stood in frozen time, she refused him
‘You have no power over me
You have no power over me’

Then she chose down
And down she went falling
And she chose down
In the face of all he promised
She just chose down
He’d continue her story
But she chose down
And not a thousand hands would stop her fall
